Fine Jewelry for Men; Starter Guide

Since I started working with jewelry and design, I noticed how much men love jewelry. Probably almost as much as women but the options are so much more limited in terms of design and materials. Perhaps the limited options comes from the misconception that men do not wear jewelry as much as women or are less selective when it comes to design. I must disagree.

The pieces we wear reflect our desire for individuality and our love for storytelling and expressing our aesthetic. This is true for both men and women.

This piece is for the man who might just be starting their venture into fine jewelry or who is seasoned and is looking for new aesthetic ideas.

Whether you have been thinking about trying new gold jewelry or are looking to expand there is no point in holding back and expressing yourself. Your body is a canvas.

I am excited for you, get ready to add some color to your life. Fear not, the future is bright.

As a designer, I have made many different types of pieces for men. I have noticed countless times how much of a desire there is to find a piece that speaks to you—if you are new to the jewelry game, I recommend you start with a necklace. A gold necklace in 14 or 18 karat is great.

You can always get a pendant for it, something that inspires you or aligns with your aesthetic. A necklace is one of the greatest conversation pieces one can own. Plus, real gold you can shower with it or wear it to the gym without worrying about it tarnishing or losing its sparkle.

Quality over quantity. It is better to have one piece you absolutely love. Consider every piece an investment and something you will keep for generations.

The next piece I recommend is a bracelet—a link or a chain bracelet is a great starting point.

The key to wearing jewelry well is to find a well-fitting piece. Not one that is too loose or too tight. Delicate designs are gorgeous on men, a piece does not have to be large or loud to make a statement.

Ancient Romans wore signet pinky rings as a functional and stylish piece. They signified status and were usually engraved with a family seal and used to sign important letters or messages. This was back when not everyone could read or write so having a unique, hard to replicate, seal served as a signature. Rings are undoubtedly a very stylish addition to any wardrobe—large stones, vibrant colors and pinky rings are beautiful. Do not be afraid to try out rings—beyond the standard wedding or school ring.

Rings are an excellent opportunity to wear colorful stones. I love diamonds, but there are so many other stones to explore such as Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire just to name a few.

Stack them or simply wear one at a time. I am a big fan of ring sets—rings designed to be worn together, in harmony.

Earrings are a very popular earpiece for men in different cultures. If you are interested in wearing earrings do not shy away from color or wearing larger pieces. Usually, a smaller gold hoop or diamond earrings is where most start experimenting with earrings.

And, there is a world which I have not even mentioned including pins, tie clips and belt buckles. Why limit yourself to the standard.

I am here to encourage you to express yourself and be fearless when it comes to trying out new pieces. All my work is designed so it can be worn by both men and women because I am a strong believer that excellent design includes everyone.
