Oh, creativity. When does it come? Is there a moment when it reveals itself or do we have to work until something comes out?
Waiting for inspiration to strike is the epitome of a mood killer.
When is that moment? When is creativity to finish a new project or idea arriving? Please share your ETA?
I wonder what its favorite form of transportation is; perhaps it walked to your apartment in Manhattan and entered the wrong zip code into Maps and ended up somewhere in Brooklyn. Or took the Subway and is now stuck in one of the tunnels running through the East River.
I ask from experience as my last story was eight months ago and trust me, inspiration has struck me like lightning a million times — but not once have I fully committed to the act of finishing the countless story ideas I planned on placing here.
Perhaps, the lesson here is to plan a point in time where you will be creating like a mad scientist burning the midnight oil.
It does not have to be perfect and honestly, it might be the most imperfect of all ideas or works — but use it as a stepping stone into your later work.
Make mistakes often and early, learn and repeat — a note to you and to self.
