Jewelry should feel effortless and natural — like you were born with it. And yet, so much of the conversation around jewelry skips over the most practical question of all: does it actually fit?

Whether you're ordering a bracelet, choosing a necklace length, or commissioning a ring, a little measuring goes a long way. Here is everything you need to know.

Measuring Your Wrist Size

A well-fitting bracelet should sit comfortably — not too tight, not too loose. The difference between a piece you love and one that sits in a drawer is often just a quarter of an inch.

What you'll need: a soft measuring tape, or a strip of paper and a ruler.

Steps:

  • Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist, just below the wrist bone — where you'd naturally wear a bracelet.
  • Make sure it's snug, but not overly tight.
  • Note the measurement, then add ease based on how you prefer your bracelets to sit.

Fit guide:

  • Snug fit: add 0.25–0.5 inches
  • Comfort fit: add 0.5–0.75 inches
  • Loose fit: add 1 inch

Tip: if you are stacking bracelets, sizing slightly up creates a more natural drape.

Pieces to consider: the Small Gold and Diamond Links Bracelet, the Small Silver Hammered Links Bracelet, the Medium White Gold and Diamond Link Bracelet, and the 22 Karat Gold Granulation Bracelet — all available with a custom fit option.

Finding Your Necklace Length

Necklaces sit differently depending on length, neckline, and personal style. Think of this as choosing where you want the piece to live on your body.

Standard lengths:

  • 14"–16" → sits at the collarbone — a close, refined look
  • 18" → rests just below the collarbone — most versatile
  • 20"–22" → falls at the upper chest
  • 24"+ → longer, more relaxed silhouette

How to measure:

  • Use a measuring tape or string — a shoelace works perfectly.
  • Drape it around your neck to your desired length.
  • Adjust until it falls exactly where you want the necklace to sit, then measure the length.

Tip: layering works best when there's at least a 2-inch difference between each necklace. Choose an adjustable chain for the most versatility.

Necklaces worth considering: the Gold Bee Necklace featuring Granulation and a Yellow Diamond, the Gold Angel Necklace featuring Granulation, the Gold Dartmouth "D" Necklace, the Single Diamond Gold Link Necklace, and the Silver Hammered Link Necklace — most come with an adjustable cable chain.

Determining Your Ring Size

A ring should glide on with slight resistance and feel secure without pressure. Getting this right matters — it's the difference between a ring you reach for every day and one that spends its life on a chain instead of a finger.

Option 1 — Measure a ring you already own:

  • Choose a ring that fits the intended finger.
  • Measure the inside diameter (straight across) with calipers or a ruler.
  • Use a standard ring size chart to match the measurement.

Option 2 — Measure your finger:

  • Wrap a strip of paper or string around the base of your finger.
  • Mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimeters — this is your finger's circumference.
  • Match it to a standard ring size chart.

A few important notes:

  • Fingers expand slightly throughout the day — morning measurements tend to run smaller.
  • Avoid measuring when cold, as your size may read smaller than usual.
  • If you're between sizes, it's usually best to size up — or ask for an in-between size.

Rings currently available: the Solitaire Diamond Ring and the Pink Solitaire Sapphire Ring. Both can be made to your exact size.
